The head of a respected local law firm, Steve Hilger is also a guitarist and leader of his own jazz group.
While Steve utilizes different musicians at different times, the lineup often includes Steve Talaga on piano and Charlie Hoats on bass. The phenomenal Randy Marsh is usually the group's drummer but I have the privilege of filling-in for Randy periodically.
Steve's primary band is a traditional jazz quartet which plays a wonderful array of classic jazz compositions -- Caravan, Footprints, Impressions, Green Dolphin Street, Stella By Starlight, Take Five, and many others. A more recent variation is the Hilger Jazz Fusion Project, which performs more aggressive material and usually adds John Gist on sax. Steve also has a blues band with which I occasionally sub on drums.
