Drums

For both studio and live engagements, I offer a variety of drumsets, snare drums, and cymbal options to tailor the drum sound to the artist's personal vision.  I can recommend the specific instruments that are particularly well-suited to certain musical styles, or bring multiple options from which to choose.

ideal for rock, pop, studio, all-around -- my primary drumset

DW birch-shell drumset (natural birch finish with gold hardware)

toms: 10", 12", 14"

bass: 20"

slightly smaller dimensions and different tone than the maple kit

Jackson Drums custom 28" bass drum (natural maple finish with brass hardware)

works well in conjunction with the DW toms, both sonically & visually

huge bass drum sound for special applications

Joe Cusatis (Modern Drum Shop) custom jazz-sized set (cherrywood finish)

toms: 10", 12", 14"

bass: 18"

not just for jazz, great for smaller venues or lower-volume situations

Joe Cusatis (Modern Drum Shop) custom mini-kit (walnut finish)

toms: 10", 13"

bass: 16"

unbelievably big sound with an unbelievably small footprint, my favorite for small clubs

Ludwig vintage mid-1970's drumset (silver sparkle finish)

toms: 12", 16"

bass: 20"

a fun option for blues gigs or whenever a retro look is in order

Snare Drum options

unbelievable crack and power, simply the world's best rock snare

round, woody tone but still crisp & articulate, with a very wide dynamic range from subtle to aggressive

custom mahogany/spruce shell, 5" x 14"  (by Magstar Drums)

gorgeous rich, warm tone but still clean and articulate, a favorite for jazz and lower-volume gigs

vintage Slingerland 5-1/2" x 14" Buddy Rich model (early-1970's)

a classic model with a great, well-balanced sound, still one of my favorites

semi-custom Pearl 5" x 14" stainless steel shell with gold hardware and rims

nice balance between crack and a full-tone -- and looks gorgeous

custom 3/8" solid aluminum shell, 5-1/2" x 14" (by Potyondi Drums)

the clarity of a thick metal shell with a little less edge than steel

DW brass shell piccolo, 4" x 14" with die-cast brass hoops
