Follow this link to three sample tracks from our CD, Welcome to This Picture. The first tune, Allison's Dream,
was a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The second song, Over You, was an award winner in the
Billboard Songwriting Competition. And the third one, Meanwhile, is another of my personal favorites.
You can also see videos of the band at this page, including footage taken from a live performance of Allison's Dream.

I think Rick Devon is an exceptionally gifted songwriter. That's why I was honored when he asked me to be
the drummer in his band. Its hard to believe that was over a decade ago.
Originally named Merry Bomb,
the band evolved over the years with new members and new material, leading ultimately to a name change in November 2001. The
new name, Fiction Switch, was unveiled in conjunction with the release of the band's CD, Welcome
to This Picture. In addition to rave reviews in local newspapers, two of the tunes from the
CD gained national recognition in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Billboard Songwriting Contest.
After a long run, the band finally dissolved in 2003. The group's final performance was at the Grand
Rapids Festival of the Arts in front of a large crowd of enthusiastic fans (photos below). It was sad to see it all
end, but it was a great way to go out!

Recently rediscovered and remastered, this recording of The Up Side of Down dates back to 1999 when the band hastily recorded over a dozen songs during a single weekend. The
idea was to create a quick-and-dirty compendium of our material for use by prospective producers in selecting songs for
the upcoming CD project. Rick always felt Up Side was a bit too simplistic so it was not chosen for
the CD, but I always enjoyed it's honest, uncomplicated energy. In any event, this is the only recording you'll
probably ever hear of this Merry Bomb tune. Check it out -- and 10 other great Merry Bomb classics you'll find at the
