Roger MacNaughton is a talented local composer and pianist. It was my priviledge to contribute
the drum tracks for his CD, Michigan Morn, excerpts from which are now playing in the background. One of the
songs, Grand Traverse Bay, even won the 2012 ArtPrize Music Award in the jazz category!
The project included Susan Beliel (violin, GR Symphony) and local jazz greats Charlie Hoats (bass) and Carlos
Melendez (guitar) performing instrumental compositions celebrating Michigan's natural beauty. You can purchase
Michigan Morn at Schuler Books & Music on 28th Street in Grand Rapids, or online at CD Baby.
I've also joined Roger for a number of other musical engagements, including several jazz trio/quartet
gigs, some pop music concerts, and even a couple of "jazz vespers" services featuring jazz arrangements of religiously themed
compositions.
